During coffee with a colleague yesterday, it occurred to me that the words, “We’ve got you” are among the three most important words in human relationships.
- We’ve got you if you’re afraid to come out.
- We’ve got you if you lose your job.
- We’ve got you if the pain is incapacitating.
- We’ve got you if you’ve been betrayed.
- We’ve got you if you’re hungry.
- We’ve got you if you need help with your kids.
Please be a “we’ve got you” person or school or church.

Amen!

I find this to be a helpful response to younger people who, skeptical about joining organizations, wonder why they should be a “member” of a congregation. Skip the theology for now and focus on relationships.

A lesson that needs to be taught to our congregation. I’m seeing an opposite reaction as of late. “Please don’t bother me with this.”
